All Things Gas...

Its no secret that Gas, skunk, fuel, and funk are among the most desired smells. While sure, Gelatos and fruit and candy have their place as well. For me, old school dank and extreme potency go hand in hand with the gas, the puppy breath, the diesels, the funk. And of course, I've used many of them in my work to build some fun lines. Its also no secret that these old kushes and chems are tired, not the most resistant, tough to grow, and in general, can be a more challenging variety in a good climate, and a downright nightmare if you aren't in the Emerald Triangle. A bit part of my work with these was to make them more hardy easy going, while still retaining the terps that make em worth the fuss to begin with. I've never sat down an chronicled the main cuts, but figure its about time I do that!
So heres some of my favorites from over the years, and the projects built off of them!
First off, heres the B1G Wyrm Chem. This cut was shared by...you guessed it, big wyrm from the old forum days. Originally when he was given it, was just labeled "diesel", and for a while he believed it to be the chem 91 cut. Having grown both side by side, he learned they are similar yes, related, more then likely, but not the same plant. Shes rubber cement, tennis balls, and fuel. Extremely narcotic smoke. Leafy. She had mediocre resistant outdoors in Oregon.
The big project off her was the Hydras Stash - which was her to my dragons stash F2 red Male.

92 OG -
This is an old school classic, fuel and kush, and extremely strong smoke. She came to me a few different times over the years, and was a favorite of mine. Tough to grow for sure, and in Oregon and Hawaii, she was typically among the first to start having issues in tough years.
Shes been used with the following males : Dragons Hashplant , Dragons Stash, Dragons Stash f2, West African Ghana and with both the Orange Dreams, and Mac dragon reversals

Triangle Kush - / TK
Probably my favorite of the OGs to smoke. Shes got it all, gas, funk, extremely heavy narcotic smoke, taste lasts thru the joint, and is in my opinion, one of the best examples of quality cannabis when grown to potential. The cut of TK I had was very similar in vibe to the 92 og, but the tk seemed to do better for me side by side. Smoke wize, hard to tell em apart. Still, not resistant, and easy to mold, go south, get heat issues, etc.
My favorite cross of her is the X Dragons Stash cross, but shes been in nearly every pollination I've done over the last decade. Dragons Hashplant, Dragons Macberry, Blackberry Moonshine BX, Haole Moonshine, West African Ghana, Old timers Haze, Mac Dragon, Orange dreams etc.

Stardawg -
One of my other favorite lines. Shes got a delicious Earthy Kush flavor that lingers. Shes much more forgiving then most kush type plants, and was able to be grown with much higher success even before I started working with her and my outdoor lines. Shes got high level potency as well, although perhaps a touch less then the TK. Great breeder as well, and the most obvious example is the celestial Dragon which has traveled far and wide and been well loved. Stardawgs also been used in many of my other crosses and male selections.
Chem D -
While I will confess, this cut I can't say 110% was the legit chem d, as there are so many cuts floating around. The cut I worked with as Chem D came to me from Hazeman who held it for decades. I will say, I would put this cut up against anything else Ive seen or grown thats labeled chem d, and I think a smoker would choose this cut. Its got extreme bad breath terps, with some spice to it. Having Grown legit GMO, I would say the hazeman cut definitely has many of the smells recognizable in the GMO. She can and does herm, although rarely seems to actually make seed when it does herm. She is finicky, and definitely not one that can be nailed every time esp in tough climate zones. However, shes damn fine smoke.
3x OG
This is one of my personal favorite OG creations I made. Its Serious OG x Orange OG x SR71 Purple kush. Gets huge, easy going, indoors makes perfect canopies of delicious purple kush. Has all the right notes, rotten teeth, fuel, skunk, dirty basement, and is stupid potent.
And of course, the Fire OG. Old school classic. Very vigorous plant that produces many long golf balls. Reeks of basement, funk, and fuel. Stellar smoke all around, and makes for great crosses. My experience with the males I've used has been that she keeps the best parts of the fire og side, while easily becoming much more adapted to outdoor climates. All in all, shes a beast to have.

Really enjoyed reading this deep dive into the different cuts and your experiences with them. The way you described the terps and growing challenges makes it super engaging. Sometimes I wish I could order blog posts online as detailed as this Paysomeone To helps create content that captures this same authenticity.
